My Favorite Musicians

I wanted to share my list of favorite Musicians with you. This list is a work in progress and although most of the artists are Christians (some good friends of mine), some will not be. Judge me by the content of my character (well… the music I listen too will tell you a little bit more about me, huh?). Click on the artist’s name to go to his/her website and learn more.

Angela M. Brown – An “Aida” like no other. Angela has always been a delight to be around andAngela M. Brown I am so proud of knowing her and that she is living her dream. She has a beautiful Spinto Soprano voice that will send chills up your spine (I had never experienced that until I heard her sing at the Convent Avenue Baptist Church in Harlem, NY!)

Nadeen Edwards - my island friend and Pocono Mountains neighbor. She alsoNadeen Edwards has the privilige of beginning to live her dream. She was able to finally able to release her first album “Just in Time,” just in time ;-)

June's first project

June April – Words cannot describe June’s music. Neo-soul, jazz, Bluegrass, R&B and Gospel music. I love her first project: “Jazz Hymns”. She released her first full-length album “What Am I” in June 2007.

Roland GreshamRoland Gresham – A Gospel Jazz Guitarist, presents concerts throughout the US and abroad. He has unique arrangements of some classical hymns and contemporary Christian Music. He has a gentle spirit with a quiet strength. You definitely want to have his music in your library.

Carmen HopeCarmen hopeCarmen’s music is one of the newest artists in my collection. She is a great poet and her music is captivating. Carmen is also a World Vision artist.

Kateena LeForgeKateena LeForge – I first heard Kateena sing at a 3ABN broadcast being produced at the Stroudsburg Church in Stroudsburg, PA. She may not look “soulful” but she definitely has a soulful voice. She loves singing what she sings and it shows. I throughly enjoyed meeting her and listening to her music.

Yolanda Palmer – My Uchee Pines roommate (well it was only for three weeks). Also known as the Queen of Jingles “back in the day.” She now has her own ministry “Heart & Soul” and her newest album “A Place Beyond” is my favorite.

Jennifer Jill Schwirzer Her autobiographical book “Dying to Be Beautiful,” shares herJennifer Jill journey from victim to victor with anorexia. Jennifer is probably my oldest Christian friend. She was instrumental in my spiritual growth as the music coordinator of the “Little Flock” company that ran the Country Life Restaurant down on Trinity Place in the Wall Street area. I remember listening in awe as she put music to the words of Daniel 2:20 “Blessed be the name of God…” It was my first experience with Scripture Songs and I was amazed. She continues to put music to Scripture as well as writing her own songs. I have yet to collect all of her albums. She is also available for speaking engagements as well as for concerts. Click on her name above to learn more about “Michael Ministries.”

Patty Dahl Vaillant – Another Uchee Pines colleague. Music is strictly Scripture Songs. She has some excellent recordings of some of the songs that Jennifer Schwirzer had put to music. Definitely a great way for memorizing Scirpture is when they are put to music. I remember some of my favorite promises this way. As a matter of act, do you have a favorite promise or two (or three, or more), there’s a 99% chance someone has put it to music … and quite well.

Yolanda Adams – Another Yolanda. Between Yolanda Adams and Yolanda Palmer, I don’t think I can get enough. I have all the albums of both artists and I’ve almost abandoned all the other artists in my library for both of them. Yolanda Adams’ latest album “Day by Day” is my favorite so far … until her next album. Her music is inspirational and I need all the inspiration I can get.

I have other favorites, and you may be able to find more on my site at http://www.fransplace.com. I feel blessed to call most of these talented individuals my friends. I hope you will get to visit their sites and discover the beauty of their talents and be blessed as well. They are warm-hearted and down to earth and would probably enjoy being invited to do a concert for your organization. Feel free to visit their sites and invite them.

When Through The Storm came out Yolanda Adams toured heavily and came to Philly about 5-6 times. I got to meet her and she is a beautiful spirit. She is a true music minister even though she’s called a gospel singer. She gives the word in song and not every gospel singer can say that with a straight face.
